Yitzhak Alexander Frenel Frenkel is known  internationally. He is considered as one of the important Jewish painters of the « Ecole de Paris » along with Soutine, Mogdiliani.

He perfected his studies in Paris in the beginning of the twenties at the « Ecole des Beaux-Arts », and at the « Grande Chaumière »

where he studied sculpting at the studios of the painter Matisse and the sculptor Bourdelle. He is the great grandson (8th generation) of Rabbi Levi Itzack of Berdichev.
